Do you imagine obtaining energy from water and light, as plants do? What if we could create an artificial leaf capable of doing the photosynthesis as a new energy solution?
The two-week excellence program Barcelona International Youth Science Challenge (BIYSC) of Catalunya-La Pedrera Foundation challenges young students from all over the world, through the project “Artificial photosynthesis”, to discover different ways to use and store solar energy by copying the natural photosynthesis process with leading scientists of the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ).
The students participating in this project will contribute to real scientific research for new energy solutions by providing sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels. Marta Blasco, Predoctoral Researcher at the ICIQ and one of the responsibles of this project, highlights the importance to make students aware of how chemistry plays a key role in our energy future and the research for solutions to global warming.
